Gig Economy

Life is grinding my spirit down,

Cannot muster bonhomie,

Earning scratch all I think about,

In this gig economy.

I’ll design a website for you,

To earn myself a Fiver,

Been working hard on my Substack,

Won’t you be a subscriber?

Unpaid invoices stacking up,

Not been paid for 30 days,

AI’s made freelancing hard work,

Now writing no longer pays.

Ad-hoc works the name of the game,

Tomorrow is dog walking,

Then a car boot sale sunday morn,

Got hooky gear for hawking.

Depop and Vinted, I sold my soul,

To influencers hauling,

I had no luck on Marketplace,

Avon’s not my true calling.

My Tik-Tok vids have not caught on,

Made some bank from YouTube ads,

If I Only had hardcore Fans,

I'd get them out for the lads.

Aiming for Twitch affiliate,

But I ain’t got time for that,

I failed on Kick and Bigo Live,

My subscriber count is flat.

Amazon driving sucks, it’s true,

Tried Ocado, but now I’m through,

I’m on Just Eat, Deliveroo,

About to join Uber Eats too

Please I need a 5 star review,

My Venmo’s rinsed, my rent is due.

I’m a slave to corporate greed

Businesses have the power,

My pay’s only minimum wage,

My contract zero hour.
