Kitchen Drawer

What’s that on the floor?

A screw has come loose!

Must put it away,

so the hallway is spruce.

I know just the place,

It isn’t a chore,

If I just drop it in,

To the kitchen drawer.

A blob of blutack,

A Pokemon card,

Two safety pins,

I never discard.

The perfect location,

To shut them away,

For there is a chance,

I’ll need them someday.

A wad of receipts,

A solo glue dot,

Not sure if this battery,

Functions or not.

I find in a bag,

A half-broken comb,

Slip them inside,

Their temporary home.

Blunt scissors, a pen,

That Tesco coupon,

All very useful,

I won’t move them on.

A headlight bulb,

From a previous car,

I put in their place,

Cos it isn’t that far.

They all go Inside,

That place to reside,

A neat place to hide,

Their time they will bide,

Out it will slide,

Along on its guide,

Open it wide,

Keep that kitchen drawer plied.
